Get a Mother’s Day card AND some nice stationary. Take the time to sit down with no distractions. Ask people around you to give you some space and quiet for an hour or so. Write mom a letter; a real letter with a pen and that nice stationary. It need only be one page, but really say something from the heart. When you are done, fold your letter nicely so it fits in the card. Give it to mom on Sunday, or when you see her next, along with a gift or special edible treat. A variation: If your mother is no longer around, write her a letter anyway and save it in a photo album or with other meaningful items you cherish. Another variation: Write a letter to a mother in your life other than your own.
