The Daily Cup – Take a Detour

deli - 0426

……………………………………………………..

Take the long way home today. On your way home from work or from running errands, make a random turn and drive around for a while. If the children are with you, that is even better. If you live in the country, or can do so without making nearby residents feel invaded, stop briefly to snap a few pictures with your phone. Then, upload them to your home or work computer’s desktop so you can see them for a few days and be reminded of that time you spent driving home with a new perspective.

The Daily Cup – Here Comes The Sun

……………………………………………………..

Remember a time as a child when you played outside and actually noticed that it was sunny and that the sun somehow made your life itself radiant in that moment. Try to picture the details of that moment. Were you with friends? What toy were you playing with? Where were you? What were the most noticeable features of your surroundings? A tree? A river? Did you have a favorite pet at your side? What were you wearing? What time of day was it? You might get a bit nostalgic, but what you will get most is a sense that life has many ways of being kind to you.

The Daily Cup – Your Corner

deli - 0424

……………………………………………………..

Today, identify a corner of your home where you enjoy being most. If it is not already set up with a place to sit, rearrange it with a comfortable chair and small side table. Plan on spending 5 minutes there in silence at some point every day, perhaps with your tea or coffee. Plan this so that it fits in your schedule and you can make it a daily ritual. Ritual brings a sense of security and stability. We make a lot of decisions every week. Starting from a sense of stability can help us face the more difficult ones with greater ease.
