The Daily Cup – Travel Home

deli - 0502

……………………………………………………..

Did you know that the process of planning leisure time actually lowers stress, even days before you actually enjoy the time off? Plan your weekend… differently. We often go out-of-town to get away from it all at the end of a long work week. There is probably a gift shop, gallery or establishment offering activities or tours right in your community that you have not visited in a long time. Plan a visit. Then, plan a family meal with a twist: everyone must try at least one dish or food they have never eaten before. Ho! And if you do visit a local gift shop this coming weekend, buy a little something to remind you of your simple, delightful weekend near home.

The Daily Cup – Don’t Let It Bug You

deli - 0430

……………………………………………………..

This time of year, six and eight-legged creatures that hide in house plants and corners to stay warm for the winter awaken and come out in search of food, water and freedom. Let’s face it, we do not want bugs in our house; we are bigger and stronger, therefore we win, hands down! The bugs that hide in the house are not typically the ones that destroy forests we hear about on the news. Today, if you see a bug in your house or office, get a drinking glass and a thin piece of cardboard (membership cards from magazines work best). Capture the little guy in the glass. Slide the card onto the opening and escort it outside. In fact, do this often enough and over time you may notice that your dislike for insects has vanished. This does not mean you will invite them in, but at least they won’t seem like monsters anymore. (Image from Walt Disney’s A Bug’s Life).

The Daily Cup – Choose Your Shoes

deli - 0429

……………………………………………………..

Everybody’s got a variety of shoes. Open your closet and take a look at your own collection. Select one pair, other than the one you wear every day at home, that you usually wear on road trips or while on vacation. Put them on. Sit down with your feet on something so you see your shoes. In your mind, list 5 cool places you’ve been while wearing those shoes. Single one place that stands out. Call one person you have not seen for a while and who was there with you that day. Plan another outing together soon. Make sure to tell him/her how to Choose Your Shoes!
